Gift Kelehe

Gift Kelehe WINNER OF THE 90TH COMRADES ANNIVERSARY 2015, brother of Andrew Kelehe (Comrades winner of 2001).

Gift was born on 1981-11-09 in Taung Sekhing Village outside Pampierstad, North West Province and also grew up in Taung Sekhing Village, he started running at school. His best Marathon time was 2h20 in Botswana. He won the Potchefstroom SAPS Marathon in 2011. He has also won the 21,1km SAPS Camp in Limpopo and Cross Country 12km race. Gift holds 4 gold medals in Comrades, finishing in the fifth place 2011, eighth place in 2012, third place in 2014 and winning the 90th Comrades Anniversary this year, 2015. Gift made history in the year 2015 being one of two brothers to have one Comrades, his brother won in 2001 and he now in 2015.

In the year that Gift won in 2015 he together with the Elite athletes were training for 8 weeks in Dullstroom, they trained every day and did approximately 250 – 300km a week. Gift came to camp on the 5th of April weighing 56kg and the day of the race 31st of May he weighed only 47kg. Gift is a disciplined athlete and took his nutrition seriously over the 8- week period.

His favourite food is rice and chicken, his favourite soccer team is Kaizer Chiefs, his favourite rugby team is the Blue Bulls. He is working for SAPS detached under a specialised unit tactical response team in Rustenburg.
